2009-10-06 RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC SITUATION ON OUTDOOR VIDEO SCREENS

Drivers of Vilnius city shall receive information on traffic jams right in the streets of the city in October 5 to 31. PL JSC “Actual City Media” managing ACM outdoor video screen network grants them such possibility. Live view from street cameras is ensured by the SC “Susisiekimo paslaugos” and HNIT BALTIC, which is geographic information system software supplier. Traffic situation on the main crossroads of Vilnius shall be displayed in all video screens of the city till the end of the month.

Crossroad situation view shall be broadcasted on rush hours, namely at 7 to 10 am and 4 to 8 pm on business days. The shots shall be refreshed every two minutes an hour and displayed minimum 30 times. According to the statistical data on particular crossroads, over 5 million people shall see information on traffic situations at the crossroads.

“Car traffic suddenly increases every autumn and many drivers willing to save time are in the necessity to know exact situation on their roads. According to Renatas Parojus, the Director of the “Actual City Media” company and the initiator of the project, the broadcasts is a gift for residents and guests of Vilnius city, which is going to enable find their way in traffic jams easier on rush hours.

Shots of crossroad situations shall be displayed on outdoor video screens using material broadcasted from cameras installed at the crossroads.

The outdoor video screen near “Senukai” shopping centre shall display views from the crossroad of Ukmerges and Zadeikos streets, the “Akropolis” screen shall show views from Ukmerges and Ozo street crossroad; the “Domus” screen shall illustrate Kareiviu and Zirmunu crossroad, the “Europa” screen shall broadcast situation in Laisves Ave. and Justiniskiu Str. and the “Vilkpede” and “Opera” screens shall show crossroad of Gelezinio Vilko and Lukiskiu streets.
